Notable Alumnae
Kazuko FUKUDA (Graduated in 2014)
Kazuko Fukuda is a Japanese activist and founder of the “#Nandenaino” project, which literally means “why we don’t have it?” The project advocates for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Japan, where access to reproductive care is limited. After earning a master’s degree in public health from the University of Gothenburg in 2021, she worked at the UNFPA Rwanda office, promoting SRHR in refugee camps.
Now based in Tokyo, Kazuko continues to champion SRHR and gender equality through writing, public speaking, and advocacy. She co-founded the “Citizen’s Initiative for Pharmaceutical Access to Emergency Contraception (CIPATEC)” and is vice president of the FIFTYS PROJECT, which promotes gender equality in politics. She was named one of Forbes Japan’s 30 Under 30 in 2023.

Asako IIMORI (Graduated in 2014)
Japanese violinist Asako Iimori first gained international recognition after winning first prize at the Valsesia Musica International Competition in Italy. She is also a laureate of the Romanian International Competition and several major music competitions in Japan. As a member of Quartet Cervin, she won first prize at the Swiss Chamber Music Competition and the Fanny Mendelssohn Competition.
After earning her Bachelor’s degree from the Tokyo University of the Arts, Asako moved to Munich to complete her Master’s degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, graduating with the highest honors. She later obtained a diploma from the International Menuhin Music Academy in Switzerland and was an academy student of the Orchestre de Paris.
She was formerly concertmaster of the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana and has appeared as guest concertmaster with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, among others.
Now based in Europe, Asako performs as a soloist with numerous orchestras across many countries.
